Buy Wine from region Loire
The Loire Valley is located in the middle stretch of the Loire River and crosses over 500 kilometres of vineyards, from the Massif Central until it flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Even though there are very different climates, grape varieties, soils and cultivation techniques, Loire region wines share a similar style, as they are light, delicate and good but not aggressive acidity.
Most of the Loire production are white wines and the most representative appellations are: Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé within the Haute-Loire, producing excellent dry and mineral wines with Sauvignon Blanc; on the western side, in Pays Nantais, fine, neutral and mineral Muscadet wines, yielded with Melon de Bourgogne. The combination of these wines with shrimps, oysters and mussels is simply amazing. Central Loire offers also interesting sweet wines of botrytized Chenin Blanc grape, from the Touraine and Anjou department.
Loire red wines are less common, being Anjou and Touraine departments the most emblematic for their production of Cabernet Franc: dry and fragrant wines with remarkable terroir and pronounced variety. Some of them are subject to partly carbonic maceration, sulphur use is steadily decreasing.
Loire: tactful intelligence!
