Buy Wine from Bosque de Matasnos
In the heart of the Ribera del Duero, surrounded by a lush forest that gives its name to the winery, Bosque de Matasnos stands as a unique enclave full of life. Situated at an altitude of approximately 950 metres, this winery is located to the north of Peñaranda de Duero, in an area where nature rules and caring for the environment is an unavoidable duty.
The proximity to the Duero River, which crosses the region, provides a thermal and hydric influence that is essential for the optimal development of the vines. As you walk through the area, you can feel the breath of history: centuries of winemaking tradition have taken root in this land, shaping the unique character of its wines.Bosque de Matasnos was born in 1960, the result of the dream of passionate winegrowers who found in this corner of the Ribera del Duero the ideal place to give life to wines with identity. The winery has evolved over the years, and today it is led by a new generation committed to sustainability and innovation. The project's main viticulturist, Jaime Postigo, founder and general manager of the winery, with an outstanding career in other prestigious wineries in the region, has been able to respect the essence of tradition while incorporating techniques that optimise the quality and expressiveness of the wines. The history of Bosque de Matasnos is the story of a family and a team who, with patience and tenacity, have been able to turn a dream into reality, making wine a faithful expression of the landscape that surrounds them.
Vineyards
The Bosque de Matasnos vineyards extend over some 30 hectares, which are nourished by the rich biodiversity of the region. The winery's plots are located on a high plateau surrounded by pine trees, oak trees and an incredible variety of native flora and fauna that contribute to the health of the environment. This proximity to the forest has a positive impact on the quality of the grapes, maintaining a particular microclimate full of nuances.
The Matasnos terroir is composed of loamy soils with clay, sand and pebbles. This combination, together with the altitude, favours correct aeration of the soil and excellent drainage, providing the perfect conditions for growing grapes. The extreme continental climate, with cold winters and very hot summers, is softened thanks to the altitude and the natural protection of the forest, ensuring a slow ripening cycle that provides a great concentration of aromas and flavours.
At Bosque de Matasnos, the winery is firmly committed to sustainable viticulture, respectful of the environment and committed to the conservation of biodiversity. For years, we have been working with techniques that minimise environmental impact and promote organic farming. The absence of chemical herbicides and pesticides, as well as the use of organic fertilisers, are proof of the winery's commitment to caring for the land and the health of the vines. The vineyards, being surrounded by such a rich ecosystem, find a natural balance that is reflected in the quality of the grapes and, therefore, in the wines.
Philosophy
Bosque de Matasnos ' philosophy is simple but profound: to make wines that are an honest reflection of the terroir and love of nature. Each bottle tells a story, the story of a privileged site and of the hands that, with dedication and effort, have cultivated each bunch of grapes. The winery has evolved towards a winemaking process that prioritises quality over quantity, respecting nature's timing and allowing the wines to express themselves freely.
In the winemaking process, Bosque de Matasnos is committed to a combination of traditional and modern techniques. The grapes are harvested by hand, carefully selecting each cluster to ensure that only the best grapes reach the winery. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, carefully controlling the temperature to preserve the fresh, fruity aromas characteristic of Ribera del Duero wines. Subsequently, the wines are aged in French and American oak barrels, where they develop complexity and depth.
The aim of Bosque de Matasnos is not only to make a good wine, but also to create an emotional connection with those who enjoy it. Each sip is a tribute to the forest, soil and climate that shape the unique character of their wines. The winery strives to maintain a balance between tradition and innovation, always striving for excellence without losing sight of sustainability and respect for the environment.
Bosque de Matasnos makes wines that are the result of a clear and coherent philosophy: respect for the land, commitment to quality and passion for viticulture. Their wines not only represent the essence of Ribera del Duero, but also the soul of a team that lives and breathes wine. Each bottle is an invitation to discover a magical place, where the forest and the vines embrace, creating a harmony that is perceived in each glass.
