Buy Wine from Georg Breuer
The Georg Breuer winery is located in the Rheingau wine region, specifically in Rüdesheim am Rhein. Founded in 1880 as part of a company of wine merchants, it has belonged to the Breuer family since the beginning of the 20th century. It was Georg Breuer who expanded the winery and increased the export of wines. His sons, Bernhard and Heinrich, and later Bernhard's daughter Theresa, expanded the vineyard to 40 hectares in the best areas of Rüdesheim, Rauenthal and Lorch.
Since the early 1980s, Bernhard Breuer's efforts have earned the winery an international reputation. Today, it is managed by his daughter Theresa Breuer, together with long-time production manager Hermann Schmoranz and with the help of cellar master Markus Lundén.Vineyards
The winery cultivates 40 hectares of vineyards in Rheingau, distributed in Rüdesheim ( 25.5 ha), Rauenthal (6.5 ha) and Lorch (8 ha). 65% of these vineyards are located on steep slopes. Grape varieties include 86% Riesling, 10% Pinot Noir, 3% Pinot Gris, 1% Pinot Blanc, Orléans and Heunisch. Its best vineyard sites in Rüdesheim include Berg Schlossberg, Berg Rottland and Berg Roseneck; in Rauenthal, Nonnenberg; and in Lorch, Pfaffenwies.
Philosophy
The winery prides itself on producing wines that reflect their origin. Following a philosophy of nature-oriented viticulture, they seek to change the vineyard ecosystem from monoculture to biological diversity in order to maintain and support the fertility of the soil. They do not use herbicides or pesticides, and instead strengthen the plants and work the soil according to the real needs of the vines. Instead of using chemical fertilisers, they plant leguminous plants that produce and regulate nitrogen. The winery considers wine as part of the culture and lifestyle, so they strive to offer wines that complement food well, are intense, elegant and age well. The harvest date, determined by the physiological maturity and perfect health of the grapes, is essential to achieve the perfect balance, aromas and structure they seek in their wines.
