Buy Wine from Sicus
In the heart of the Massís de Bonastre, where the hills of the Baix Penedès merge with the salty sea breeze, Sicus Terrers Mediterranis was born. Eduard Pie, its creator, does not only cultivate vines: he cultivates an ideal. Since he took the reins of the family estate in 2003, his obsession has been one: to bottle the landscape. Not just any landscape, but a profoundly Mediterranean one, marked by intense light, stony soils and the constant murmur of the sea wind.
Eduard Pie, a trained oenologist and restless soul, combines his family's winemaking heritage with a contemporary, radically honest vision. Far removed from any passing fad, his project is a return to the essentials: indigenous varieties, minimal intervention and absolute loyalty to the terroir. The result is wines that not only speak of a land, but also whisper it, sing it, remember it.
A vineyard as an ecosystem
The Massís de Bonastre, just six kilometres from the Mediterranean, is much more than a beautiful setting. Its calcareous soils, its moderate altitude and the thermal contrast between day and night create a perfect environment for the local varieties, Cartoixà, Cartoixà Vermell, Garrut, Sumoll, Malvasía and Macabeu, to express themselves with clarity and character. At Sicus, viticulture is organic, without herbicides or pesticides. Plants coexist with wild flora, insects and animals. The soil is not ploughed: it is respected. Thus, an ecosystem in balance is created, where each element plays a role in the symphony of wine.
Amphorae that give a voice back to the soil
Winemaking at Sicus is an act of humility. Here, clay amphorae, many of them buried in the vineyard itself, replace wood. There is no make-up, no artifice. The porosity of the clay allows a subtle micro-oxygenation that accompanies the wine without imposing itself. The result is taut, filigree wines, with an energy that comes directly from the soil. Wines that do not need to raise their voice to be heard.
Each vintage, a testimony of the year
The ever-changing climate leaves its mark on each vintage. At Sicus we do not irrigate: we accept what nature gives us. The rains, the sun, the wind... everything is recorded in the grapes, and then in the bottle. That is why each wine is different, each vintage a story. There is no industrial replication, only a constant search for authenticity.
A winery that is also a wild garden
To walk through Sicus is to enter a garden that has not been tamed, but accompanied. Eduard Pie acts more like a caretaker than a director. His role is to listen, understand and guide with discretion. Under his watchful eye, the vines grow without fear, in harmony with their surroundings. And from this harmony, wines are born that cannot be explained: they can be felt.
