Buy Wine from Le Picatier
Geraldine and Christophe Pialoux are the founders of the natural wine cellar, Le Picatier, in Saint-Haon-le-Vieux, near Roanne, in the Haute-Loire. They are two excellent farmers who treat the land and their grapes in such a way that you can taste them with every sip. The coarse granite of their soil greatly influences its acid structure and aromas.
Vineyard of Le Picatier
The vineyard is planted mostly with Gamay, and the higher part of the hillside with pinot noir. In addition there are also a small number of rows of Chardonnay, grown close to the house. The soils are sandy and decomposed granite, very coarse and loose, something that is transmitted in the great freshness and fragrance of their bottles. This couple of winegrowers aim for their wines to be easily digestible. They understand that the higher the density of plants, grasses and herbs in the top layer of the soil, the higher the microbiology. It is important to keep the soil always healthy in order to be able to offer extraordinary wines, like the wines of Le Picatier.
Wines from Le Picatier
Some fruity and juicy, others light and crisp, the couple knows how to give it the right touch. The aged white wine, for example, Le Blanc Du Ju Bois Joli 2019, 100% Sauvignon Blanc, is ideal for an aperitif and for pairing with sushi. Its fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts. It is aged on its lees in oak barrels. All bottles are unclarified, unfiltered and without added sulphites.
