Bodegas Juan Gil is a family winery founded in 1916 in the town of Jumilla (Murcia); since its creation by the grandfather Juan Gil until today, where it is managed by the grandson of the same name, the winery has sought to leave the bulk and volumes in favor of quality wines currently produced.
Bodegas Juan Gil is the historical reference in the D.O. Jumilla in terms of the production of quality wines with Monastrell. They own about 350 hectares of which a little more than a hundred surround the winery, the rest are scattered, as a result of having gradually acquired them from different farmers in the town of Término de Arriba; although with a Mediterranean influence climate, the vineyards that are between 700 and 850 meters above sea level, are dominated by a continental climate, a key factor to achieve also a special freshness in their wines; the soils that we will find are sandy loam and limestone, poor in nutrients but with good capacity to retain moisture.
Bodegas Juan Gil has planted, apart from the well-known Monastrell, other non-native varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot.
Among its wines, the Comoloco stands out for its joviality, expressiveness and drinkability, a single varietal Monastrell that is a perfect reflection of the varietal and the area; Juan Gil Silver Label represents the maturity of the Monastrell, fruit of the indomitable fruity expression of the varietal but with the characteristic nuances of barrel aging; Finally, Juan Gil Moscatel is the producer's white and dry bet, with a strong commitment to fruity expression both on the nose and in the mouth, but with a good acidic finish that balances the wine.
Bodegas Juan Gil produces 3,500,000 bottles annually.
