Its history...
The winery has been making a small production of white wine since 1991, and after more than 20 years of trials and studies, l'Obrador de Celler Credo offers its current range of still wines, always based on the Xarel-lo variety, ecology and biodynamics.
Vineyards
The Celler Credo winery grows its grapes on 8 hectares in the Spanish region of Alt Penedès in Barcelona, Catalonia. These vineyards have been planted with the native Xarel-lo grape variety, in a unique location that gives origin to all Celler Credo wines.
All the vineyards of this winery have been cultivated under the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, and are registered in the Consell Català de Producció Agrària Ecológica (CCPA) and in the Demeter biodynamic certification register.
Joan Rubio currently leads the project and applies the techniques used by his grandparents to produce his five visions and interpretations of Xarel-lo: Miranius, Aloers, Can Credo, Estrany and Capficat.
Production techniques
All of the winery's grapes are harvested by hand to ensure a precise selection of the fruit and guarantee its excellent quality. In addition, Celler Credo takes great care over the ripening of the grapes in order to produce wines with a fresh, natural acidity.
Values and philosophy of the winery
Celler Credo is a project established in the Penedès region and has been working exclusively with native varieties for the last few years, implementing programmes aimed at preserving the ecosystem, exploring the virtues and properties of each variety in depth.
The grapes and vineyards are managed there, assuming their commitment to produce terroir-based white wines.
We are committed to producing terroir-based white wines, without using chemical fertilisers, pesticides or herbicides. It is a permanent dialogue between man, the variety and the land.
Wines
The wines of the xarel-lo variety, as well as the collection of wines from the Ratpenat-Macabeo, Volaina-Parellada and Mirabelles-Malvasía de Sitges biodiversity have been recognised by both national and international critics, becoming consolidated in countries such as Japan, Canada, the United States and the Nordic countries.
