Brief history
In 1986, Miguel Ángel de Gregorio discovered the excellence of the land of La Rioja, and by combining his ingenuity with the potential of the land , he managed to give the wine a unique personality of the highest level.
During the years 2000-2001, one of his great dreams came true, the construction of his new winery in Briones in La Rioja Alta, on a hill 80 metres high and next to a splendid 17th century stone building which is the new headquarters of Finca Allende.
Winery
The Palacio Ibarra constitutes the Allende space. This is a 17th century stately palace, built in 1675 by order of Don Andrés de Ibarra y Pedroso. There, inside this beautiful infrastructure, each wall is a unique example of the heritage of a past full of history.
Vineyards
The vineyards developed by Finca Allende have an average age of 45 years. The cultivation is sustainable, using organic fertilizers and mechanical tillage without the use of herbicides.
In addition, Finca Allende has 56 hectares of vineyards, located in an area of clay and limestone soils and with an orientation that ensures that the grapes receive the Atlantic influence, which gives these wines a unique and original personality.
Philosophy
The pillar on which the whole philosophy of Finca Allende revolves is the respect for the unique terroir, where the grapes are harvested by hand at the optimum moment of ripening with the selection of the best grapes. To this is added the affection of a special team of people for whom the quality of the wine is their goal and who unite their efforts to achieve it.
What makes Finca Allende special
Finca Allende stands out for its commitment to the environment and sustainable viticulture, which is why it does not use any type of herbicide or intervention that could affect the plants.
The extensive experience of Miguel Ángel Allende has also contributed to the way the winery's wines are grown and vinified.
In addition, many tasks are carried out by hand and animal traction is used to till and aerate the soil.
In the words of Miguel Ángel de Gregorio: "Wine is what best reflects the identity and uniqueness of a land".
