Buy Wine from Patrick Meyer
Patrick Meyer, almost without thinking about it, started producing wines in the most conventional way, spraying pesticides, fungicides and herbicides. He had gone to viticulture school, and like many others, that is what he was taught. In Nothalten, Alsace (France) he inherited his mother's vineyards, and within a few months, he could see with his own eyes what he had done. He quickly reconsidered cultivating his nearly 10 hectares of vineyards according to biodynamic principles.
Patrick Meyer's vineyard
His mother's healthy vines, which were once organic, began to suffer and become less productive. Today, he has made the ecosystem work again, where he grows different grape varieties, such as Pinot blanc, pinot gris, muscat, riesling, gewurztraminer and silvaner. Patrick is the champion of the latter, arguably the least known. It has AB, Ecocert and Demeter certifications. The soils, mineralised and varied, are composed of gneiss, clay, schist and sand. The estate, located at 250 metres above sea level, has the least rainy climate in France, which results in slower ripening.
Patrick Meyer's wines
Rebellious and passionate, Patrick Meyer seeks to continually reflect the identity of his terroirs. In his annual production of around 45,000 bottles, he offers naturally elegant and fine wines. They undergo spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts, with no added sulphites, although they are lightly filtered. Patrick chooses to vinify his plots separately. The whites are aged in vats and the reds in barrels.
