In 1953, Giovanni and Maria Candida acquired the historic cascina Pajé. In 1961, Giovanni Roagna bought 0.22 hectares in the heart of Asili. In 2001, Luca Roagna, after completing his studies in oenology, joined the family business, introducing innovative winemaking techniques. Luca, together with Alfredo Roagna, are the current custodians of this winemaking tradition, tending their vineyards and producing high quality wines.Vineyards
Roagna owns 20 hectares of land, of which 15 hectares are planted with vines. The remainder of the land is woodland, reflecting its commitment to biodiversity and respect for nature. Its historic vineyards extend over the Barbaresco, Barolo and Colli Tortonesi production areas. Some of its most emblematic vineyards include Pajé, Asili, Montefico, Rocche di Castiglione, Albesani, Gallina, Barolo di Barolo and Montemarzino. The winery strongly believes in biodiversity and in the symbiosis between vines, grasses, micro-organisms and animals. They do not fertilise the soil, aiming for the plants to develop deep and robust roots.
Philosophy
Roagna's philosophy is based on respect for nature and tradition. They consider that each vine is a unique individual that must be interpreted and cared for over the years. In the winery, they follow every stage of the winemaking process, from selection to bottling. Their approach is artisanal; each bottle of wine is handled at least six times by a family member before leaving the winery. They have no external oenologists or agronomists, relying solely on family experience accumulated over generations.
