Vineyards
Bodegas Breca 's vineyards cover approximately 256 hectares, with an average altitude of 900 metres above sea level, making them some of the highest in the Calatayud region. Garnacha is the dominant variety in these vineyards, with vines ranging in age from 70 to 90 years old, grown in goblet form on very rocky soils, composed of a mixture of red and grey slate. These shallow soils are only 20 centimetres thick before they reach solid rock, which presents a challenge for both the vines and the viticulture work.
The climate of the region is extreme, with a wide variation in temperature. During the summer, the vineyards can experience temperature jumps of 25 degrees Celsius between day and night. This contrast between the heat of the day, which facilitates the phenolic ripening of the grapes, and the cool nights, which retain high acidity, contributes to the production of balanced and fresh wines. These conditions also favour the ageing potential of the winery's wines.
The vines are managed in a natural way, respecting traditional viticulture techniques.
