Domaine du Perron is the fruit of the hard work of François Grinand, its faithful creator. This winery is located in Villebois, on the banks of the meandering Rhône, in Bugey, one of the most prestigious wine-growing areas in France. Here, Grinand farms around three hectares of vineyards on the steep limestone slopes of the village.
Domaine du Perron vineyards
Its founder, a former piano teacher, started making his own wine in 1993. From the beginning he has worked the whole process in a natural way. No pesticides, herbicides, fertilisers or other chemical means are used in his vineyards. With very low yields, his farming principles are intrinsically derived from organic farming and biodynamism, although he is not yet certified.
Located in a modest garage in the village, where he thinks of his ideas and plans them into reality. Here, he presses his different grapes in a large basket press: Jaquere, Altesse, Mondeuse, Gamay, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. He then ferments them in fibreglass tanks, spontaneously and with indigenous yeasts, and ages the wine for 12 months in old used French oak barrels.

The vinification of Domaine du Perron wines is carried out without chaptalisation, enzymes, fining, filtration, and without any other chemical or technological means of elaboration. When the process is ready and finished, the different aromas and expressions of these grapes can be appreciated. They are bright and vibrant wines.
