Treixadura is possibly original from Minho region, in Portugal. Treixadura wines are straw yellow coloured, with delicate apple, pear, peach and lemon scents and low acidity levels so it is usually blended with Loureiro.
In Spain, Treixadura is a typical variety from Galicia, being the main variety at the Ribeiro appellation. In Rías Baixas, Treixadura grapes are commonly blended with Albariño and Loureiro to provide aromatic complexity to wine. It is also authorised at appellations Monterrei, Valdeorras and Ribeira Sacra, where it is mixed with other indigenous varieties such as Godello.
