Buy Wine from Jeaunaux Robin
Jeaunaux Robin is a winery located in Talus-Saint-Prix, on the border between the Côte de Blancs and the Côte de Sézanne. It is a very characteristic terroir under the care of Cyril Jeaunaux, who, together with his wife, has dedicated himself with fervent passion and respect to produce wines that not only converge with tradition, but also respect the land.
It is a winery with an extension of more than 5 hectares, specialised in the cultivation of the Pinot Meunier grape variety, as this fruit is one of the few that survives the late frosts of this area. However, other species have been included for the creation of new specimens.
Let's talk about its history
Jeaunaux Robin is a winery that was founded in 1970 under the name of La Maison du Champagne. However, it was not until the year 2000 that Cyril Clémence himself decided to take the reins of the winery, perpetuating the legacy of his parents in the work of making wine production grow.
In this winery they are specialists in Pinot Meunier grapes, however, in the last years they have bet on the cultivation of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with a special attention in micro-plots.
The story begins in 1964 when the grandparents of the current owner decided to stop selling the grapes grown here, which were destined for a cooperative, and to dedicate himself to producing his own wines.
It was growing in the production of different grape varieties, until 1999, when they joined the association of Vignerons Independant, who not only had the intention of creating quality wines, but also that they were supported by the ecological viticulture, which nowadays has become biodynamic.
Techniques used
From 2005 onwards, the wines of the Jeaunaux Robin winery began to take a more organic approach, using biodynamic preparations that ensure naturalness.
In this winery, vines over 40 years old predominate, which are harvested by hand, trying to maintain the balance between sugar and acidity of the fruit. The fermentation phase is spontaneous, using steel, enamelled concrete and oak barrels of more than 10 years old from Burgundy, which largely determine its flavour. Some of the wines rest on their lees and are aged for 2 to 4 years before being bottled before they are finally marketed.
Vineyards
The vineyards of this winery are located in the south, and its soils are clay-limestone with a high presence of flint, which determines the minerality and elegance that distinguishes the resulting champagne.
It has an extension of more than 5 hectares dedicated to the cultivation of various types of grapes, especially Pinot Meunier, but with plots specialised in those varieties that are not very resistant to cold.
Biodynamic agriculture is a determining factor in every single example, as every element of the environment is used to guarantee the naturalness of the flavour that characterises this winery.
Harmonious wines
Jeaunaux Robin is a winery that is characterised by its production of harmonious wines, especially in their taste, where you can appreciate the balance between sweetness and acidity. However, the aroma is also very peculiar, as well as the texture, and that is why elegance is the best qualifier to define them.
