Buy Wine from Bodegas Morca
Bodegas Morca is located in the town of Borja, in the province of Zaragoza, at the foot of the imposing Sierra del Moncayo. This region is known as the birthplace of the Garnacha grape, an emblematic variety of the area that thrives thanks to the unique climatic and geographical conditions of the place. The history of the winery begins in 2014, when it was founded as part of the prestigious Gil Family Estates winery group, which also includes wineries such as Ateca, El Nido, Atalaya, and others.
Vineyards
Bodegas Morca 's vineyards are located in a region of strong climatic contrasts, where cold winters and hot summers, together with the influences of the Cierzo wind, contribute significantly to the character of the grapes. The soil is predominantly chalky, which forces the vines to search for nutrients in the depths, generating grapes with exceptional concentration. These climatic and soil conditions, together with controlled water stress, give the grapes a special character, ideal for the production of intense wines with great depth.
The grapes used to make the winery's wines come from small plots with low yields, which favours the production of more concentrated, higher quality fruit. The main variety is Garnacha, a grape that finds in this terroir an ideal space to develop its maximum potential.
Philosophy
At Bodegas Morca, winemaking is based on a deep respect for the environment and tradition, but also with a modern approach to winemaking. Their philosophy focuses on capturing the essence of the small plots of Garnacha that surround the winery. To do this, the grapes are hand-picked, ensuring that only the best are selected. Each plot is fermented separately in small stainless steel tanks, which allows for greater control over the vinification process and ensures that the individual characteristics of each terroir are preserved.
One of the highlights of the winemaking process at Bodegas Morca is the malolactic fermentation, which takes place in French oak barrels. Subsequently, the wines are aged for 20 months in these same barrels, which gives them a remarkable tannic structure, along with hints of vanilla and spices that complement the ripe fruit. Each barrel is carefully tasted, and after a rigorous selection process, only the best batches are bottled, resulting in limited and exclusive productions.
The leitmotiv of the project is the creation of wines that not only represent the land they come from, but also offer a unique sensory experience. The wines of Bodegas Morca stand out for their intensity, complexity and depth, attributes that make them a faithful reflection of the Garnacha and the terroir of Borja.
