Description
Manuel Formigo Teira X was born out of a very clear idea: to put the vineyard back in the spotlight and to produce a white wine that speaks unfiltered of its origin. Manuel Formigo revived the family business with a bold vision, focusing exclusively on grapes from his own estates and on an honest interpretation of the Galician landscape. This wine comes from the Miñoteira estate in Beade, within the Ribeiro Designation of Origin (D.O.), in the Avia Valley – an area characterised by strong Atlantic influence, a rich historical tradition, and soils of granite and sábrego that impart tension, good drainage and a distinct mineral character. The blend combines Treixadura, Albilla, Albariño and Loureira, varieties which here strike a very fine balance between freshness, depth and elegance.
Production
The grapes forManuel Formigo Teira X are harvested by hand, with careful selection carried out in the vineyard. Once in the winery, the bunches are pressed very gently to obtain a clean, precise must. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, thus preserving the wine’s aromatic purity and varietal identity. The wine is then left on its lees, also in stainless steel, to develop texture, complexity and an enveloping mouthfeel, without losing its vibrant profile. There is no pursuit of artifice, but rather of precision, purity and fidelity to the terroir.
Taste
On the nose, Manuel Formigo Teira X displays a refined and elegant profile, revealing white flowers, citrus, ripe white fruit and a distinct mineral undertone. It is not an exuberant wine, but rather restrained, serious and highly expressive through its subtlety. On the palate, it has a lively attack, with excellent acidity, a silky texture and a structure that combines freshness and body with great naturalness. Hints of lemon zest, white stone fruit, delicate herbs and a persistent salty nuance emerge. This Galician white wine leaves a long, clean and food-friendly finish, bearing the unmistakable hallmark of the great Ribeiro wines.
