From red sandstone soils, the 2022 Ruppertsberger Hoheburg P.C. is very fine and coolish on the nose that is reminiscent of crushed stones and salts, straw and fully ripe Riesling berries. Very elegant, fresh and refined on the palate, this is a saline and savory, structured dry Riesling with good intensity and a long, aromatic, crunchy/grippy and seriously structured finish. It's very mineral but still playful and aromatic. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in November 2023.

Description
Ruppertsberger Hoheburg, with a topography of 20 ha, owes its name to a destroyed castle belonging to the knights of Ruprechtsberg in the 14th century. The Dr. Bürklin-Wolf vineyard occupies a total of 4.68 ha of this land. Situated at the foot of the Mittelhaardt, this vineyard benefits from the favourable microclimatic advantages of the region. The shallow, white Buntsandstein ensures an optimal thermal balance for the vines.
Winemaking
As for winemaking and ageing, the selective manual harvest took place at the beginning of October, using small harvesting boxes. The plots on the HOHEBURG site produced a yield of 40 hl/ha. The wine has an alcohol content of 12.5% vol., an acidity of 8.2 g/l and a sugar residue of 2.1 g/l. In addition, it contains sulphites, as is common in many wines to ensure its preservation.
Taste
Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Ruppertsberger Hoheburg P.C. is characterised by its powerful fruit and creaminess, while impressing with its deep minerality and juiciness. Spontaneous fermentation and subsequent ageing in double wood barrels further enhance its flavour and aroma.
