Buy Wine from Adega Antonio Cajide Gulín
Adega Antonio Cajide Gulín, also known as Adega Sameiras, is located in the Ribeiro region of Galicia, Spain. This region, located some 65 kilometres inland from the Atlantic coast, is known for its rich mix of cultures and languages, including Galician, Portuguese and Spanish. The Ribeiro area, whose name comes from the Portuguese word for stream, is notable for being the confluence of three rivers: the Avia, the Arnoia and the Barbatino, which flow into the river Minho. These rivers create valleys and a microclimate that results in expressive and distinctive wines.
Vineyards
The Adega Sameiras vineyards cover approximately 6 hectares, distributed in seven plots. The terroir is a mixture of granite and schist, with a certain amount of quartz, which brings a distinctive minerality to the wines. The winery grows eight white grape varieties and six red grape varieties, all indigenous to the region. These varieties are harvested and vinified separately, allowing Antonio Cajide to experiment with different blends each year. The winery practices traditional agriculture, inherited from previous generations, with a focus on sustainability and a minimal carbon footprint. All work in the vineyards is done manually, using traditional tools and organic materials.
Philosophy
Adega Sameiras ' winemaking philosophy focuses on the expression of terroir and the authenticity of indigenous varieties. Antonio Cajide Gulín is personally involved in the whole process, from the selection of the land and rootstock to the marketing of the wine. The winery produces white and red wines under the Sameiras label, as well as a more complex white blend called Libro. These wines reflect the uniqueness of the Ribeiro region and Antonio's passion for creating wines with a sense of place and unique expressiveness. The blending of the varieties is done from the vineyard, and meticulous care extends from the vineyard to the final product in the bottle.
