Albarín variety is still planted, on a limited basis, in Asturias, in the northeast of Spain. This variety is included, temporarily, in the Spanish Official Registration for Commercial Varieties and it is used for Vino de la Tierra de Cangas.
Albarín variety has early ripening and is resistant to downy mildew. Clusters are medium to small size and berries have thick skin and mid dimension.
Albarín wines are floral and spiced as Moscatel, but with higher acidity and less phenol compounds in the skin.
