Description
Roagna Dolcetto d'Alba is a red wine that comes from the prestigious Piedmont region of Italy. This region is widely recognised for its high quality wines and Dolcetto d'Alba is no exception. This particular wine is made from the Dolcetto grape variety, which is the only variety used for its production.
The Dolcetto grapes for this wine are sourced from two specific vineyards: Pajé and Carso, both located in Barbaresco, which is part of the Asili hill. The Pajé vineyard is particularly rich in calcareous marl soil with a high content of active limestone. On the other hand, Carso is located next to the fortresses of Barbaresco, facing east, with calcareous clay soil and a significant presence of sand.
Elaboration
The grapes are harvested by hand in September from vineyards with a minimum age of 45 years, which guarantees exceptional quality. Vinification is carried out in large French oak barrels for ten days with a vat foot made with indigenous yeasts. This is followed by a maceration with submerged cap that lasts between 90 and 100 days. Finally, the wine is aged in neutral French oak barrels for approximately one year.
Taste
Roagna Dolcetto d'Alba is a wine that stands out for its traditional and authentic taste. It has an earthy aromatic profile that combines with the wild notes of berries and sour cherry. In addition, hints of aniseed and clove can be perceived, giving it additional complexity. On the palate, it has a dusty texture, but is pleasant on the palate. Its acidity is vibrant, which makes it very fresh. There is no need to wait any longer to enjoy it, as it is at its optimum point of consumption. It is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding and appreciated Dolcettos by wine lovers.
