Description
It was hard to find it, but there it was: a small plot of Bobal lost among old vineyards in the Penedès, almost forgotten, like a secret that the land reserved for those who knew how to listen. Antonella Gerosa and Massimo Marchiori -soul and hands behind Partida Creus-decided to give it a voice, and they did it the way they know how: without formulas, without make-up, with a radical fidelity to the origin and the grape. Thus Partida Creus Bobal Ancestral was born, a sparkling wine that does not follow trends but deep impulses, that of a Bobal grown with ecological care, which grows on calcareous soils with sea breezes and under a Mediterranean climate that, although dry, respects its cycles and its character.
Because Partida Creus does not work the land, it converses with it. Every intervention is minimal, every decision is intuitive but based on years of observation. This winery -already mythical among natural wines-began with the rescue of almost extinct autochthonous varieties, planted in goblet, without irrigation or chemical products, and with low but extremely expressive yields. Partida Creus Bobal Ancestral is a perfect example of this approach: 100% Bobal, a variety traditionally associated with other regions, but which here shows an unprecedented profile, sparkling, sharp and full of energy.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand, in small crates, selecting clusters at their optimum ripeness. The grapes are gently destemmed, followed by a three-day maceration to extract colour and character without losing freshness. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts, and is completed in the bottle, where the bubbles are generated naturally. No sulphur is added at any time. Partida Creus Bobal Ancestral remains 10 months in the bottle with its fine lees, gaining texture, depth and that characteristic liveliness. The wine is not disgorged or filtered: everything that happens inside the bottle is life. And it shows.
Taste
Partida Creus Bobal Ancestral has something mischievous and wild, like biting into a fruit fresh from the tree. Fresh raspberries, redcurrants, pomegranate, a citrus top that makes it vibrate and a subtle bubble that does not tire, but awakens. Light on the palate, but with an electric tension that runs through it from start to finish. Its crisp acidity and dry, refreshing finish make it the perfect companion for any informal toast... or for those moments when no excuse is needed.
