Description
The Mas Coutelou winery is one of the most important and renowned producers of natural wines in the Roussillon area of France. Its owner, Jean Françoise Coutelou, who is better known as Jeff Coutelou, is an eminence in the matter.
The Mas Coutelou OW wine is one of his most prized creations, and each bottle highlights all the effort and tenacity with which Jeff defends his beliefs of using traditional methods of cultivation and vinification, even though many prefer modernisation.
Winemaking
The single varietal Mas Coutelou OW wine is made from Muscat of Alexandria grapes, which are grown organically, respecting the soil and natural cycles, without the use of harmful chemicals.
Spontaneous alcoholic fermentation takes place during four weeks, with skin maceration. The wine is then aged in concrete and fibreglass tanks. Finally, the wine is bottled without filtering or fining.
Taste
The organic white wine Mas Coutelou OW has a taste of citrus and tropical fruits, as well as an aroma with floral and spicy notes. It is an intense dry wine, rare but beautiful and fresh.
This wine has a yellowish hue, as well as an excellent balance between juicy and tannic. On the other hand, it leaves some effervescence on the tongue and is very easy to drink.
