Description
Of all the wines produced at the Mas Coutelou winery by Jean Françoise Coutelou, the Mas Coutelou Amphore wine is one of the most appreciated by experts for its high quality and excellent taste.
As the Mas Coutelou winery was one of the first in France whose wines were certified organic, it is not surprising that it is already considered one of the most emblematic wineries in the area.
Winemaking
The Mas Coutelou Amphore wine is a single varietal wine made only with Syrah grapes grown in an organic vineyard, where no chemical products have been applied for the last 30 years. In this vineyard, clay soils with limestone predominate.
The grapes are harvested by hand when they are at their optimum ripeness. Alcoholic fermentation takes place for two weeks, spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in amphorae with skin maceration. The wine is then aged for a year in amphorae. The wine is then bottled without fining or filtering, by gravity.
Taste
The red wine Mas Coutelou Amphore is a young organic wine with medium body, quite fluid and complex, but with silky tannins. It has fruity aromas and spicy and earthy notes, with hints of leather and a pleasant finish.
