Description
High up on the slopes of Subirats, where the Penedès rises and breathes with spaciousness, the Llopart family has been rooted for more than six centuries in a land that does not forgive superficiality. Here, at the Can Llopart estate, the vineyard is not only cultivation, it is commitment, landscape and legacy. Llopart Panoramic Imperial was born more than 45 years ago as a tribute to that horizon of terraces, Mediterranean forest and limestone that defines its enclave. On its label, an illustration of that panorama is intended to do justice to what the glass reveals: a long-aged sparkling wine that embodies the patience, precision and essence of the classic Penedès trilogy: Xarel.lo, Macabeo and Parellada.
The history of Llopart Panoramic Imperial is marked by courageous decisions: such as an unwavering commitment to organic viticulture, even when it was viewed with scepticism. The vines grow in poor, shallow soils, where the roots dig their way through layers of limestone to extract the essentials. This demanding geography reduces yields to a minimum, but results in concentrated grapes, full of character and natural freshness.
Winemaking
The manual harvest meticulously selects the best clusters that will give rise to Llopart Panoramic Imperial. The grapes are gently pressed whole to preserve their varietal expression intact. The fermentation, at low temperature, protects the most delicate aromas. The base wine is bottled at the beginning of the following year and begins its long ageing in rhyme: more than 54 months of resting in the darkness of the cellars, where time and the lees forge a fine bubble and a creamy texture. Finally, the bottles are disgorged and a Brut dosage is added, maintaining the dry, elegant and distinctive profile that characterises Llopart Panoramic Imperial.
Taste
On the nose, Llopart Panoramic Imperial reveals aromas of candied citrus peel, fresh brioche, raw almond and dried flowers. Nothing bursts through, everything unfolds with elegance. On the palate, the attack is full and silky, balanced by lively acidity and delicate bubbles. Flavours of ripe white fruit, baked apple, hay and fine salinity intertwine with a persistent chalky minerality.
