Puligny Montrachet
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Lively and charming, Leflaive's 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Village delivers aromas of almond past, fresh pastry, white flowers and crisp orchard fruit. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's succulent and expressive, with an open-knit core, lively acids and a nicely defined finish.

Description
Domaine Leflaive Puligny Montrachet is synonymous with Burgundian precision. From the heart of Puligny Montrachet, this family winery - whose lineage dates back to 1717 - has maintained an intimate link with the land. It was Anne-Claude Leflaive who, in the 1990s, challenged viticultural orthodoxy by converting the entire domaine to biodynamic practices, in a radical commitment to the life of the soil and the authentic expression of the terroir. Domaine Leflaive Puligny Montrachet, made from 100% Chardonnay from various plots on clay-limestone soils, is an ode to the minerality and finesse that this appellation has to offer. The moderate altitude, continental climate and geological complexity of the Côte de Beaune are reflected here with crystalline clarity.
Winemaking
Domaine Leflaive Puligny Montrachet is harvested by hand, with strict selection in the vineyard. The grapes are gently pressed and the must is clarified before fermenting in French oak barrels (18% new). This 12-month ageing is completed by an additional 6 months in tanks, allowing the wine to settle without over-filtering, respecting its natural character. Wood is used sparingly and elegantly, seeking structure without overshadowing freshness.
Taste
Domaine Leflaive Puligny Montrachet at its purest: the nose is precise and ethereal, with notes of green apple, acacia blossom, candied lemon and a tense minerality reminiscent of flint. On the palate, the entry is vibrant and direct, with clean acidity supporting flavours of white pear, citrus zest, fresh almond and a very subtle saline echo. The oak adds body without imposing itself, letting the silky texture and energy of the wine set the pace. Long, persistent, with a dry, mineral finish that invites the next sip. A restrained, refined performance with ageing potential that captures the essence of Puligny without artifice.
