Fermented in stainless steel tanks. Aged on lees in Austrian oak foudres.

Description

The Bründlmayer family owns 12 hectares right in the middle of the Zöbinger Heiligenstein. This is not only the oldest, but probably also the most interesting plot of land on their estate. The soil consists of Perm desert sandstone, which is approximately 270 million years old. The grape variety used is Riesling, with a harvest yield of 3,500 kg per hectare. The vines are trained in Guyot and the grapes are harvested at the end of October.

Winemaking

The must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 15-20° Celsius. After fermentation, part of the wine is transferred to oak vats to mature for a short period on its fine lees.

Taste

Bründlmayer Ried Heiligenstein Riesling is a jewel of the Kamptal DAC, and with Erste Lage ÖTW classification. This wine presents a bright, multi-layered and fresh bouquet, highlighting notes of vineyard peaches, white flowers and lemon zest, combined with a hint of fresh spices. On the palate, it is dry and fresh, crystal clear and graceful, with hints of lemon zest and white currant, accompanied by a touch of youthful yeastiness. It is dense and energetic at first, but then unfolds with finesse, showing a long mineral and spicy finish, being an excellent representative of this great vintage of Heiligenstein.
