The single-vineyard 2021 Amancio shows a lot of complexity, with notes of ripe fruit, aromatic herbs and a touch of licorice. It fermented in small oak vats and matured in new French oak barrels, including malolactic, for 26 months. They believe the complexity of the wine, that some people call baroque, comes from the many different soils they have in a plot of 16.5 hectares, from which they make a very strict selection of the plants that have less bunches. This wine has more freshness and is less balsamic than in other vintages. This is a more powerful wine, if La Nieta is more elegant. 6,000 bottles were filled in February 2024.

Description
Amancio is the ideal wine for food lovers who want to enjoy a fleshy and full-bodied red wine. It is made entirely from Tempranillo grapes, and like other products of the Sierra Cantabria winery, each of the processes used to obtain the wine is completely organic and environmentally friendly.
It is made in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, a place that is world renowned for producing the best Vitis vinifera vines. The climatic conditions of this region are perfect for the grapes to always be at their best.
Winemaking
As with other similar products made by the same winery, the first step is the harvest and destemming, which is carried out completely by hand. Afterwards, the must is extracted and the resulting liquid undergoes pre-fermentation, and then rests in oak vats with regular treading, twice a day.
Finally, the wine undergoes a period of malolactic fermentation in oak barrels, culminating in an ageing period of 24 months. And the result is worth the effort: a complex, structured wine, very pleasant on the palate.
Taste
On the nose, this wine conveys aromas of red fruits, mineral accents and smoky nuances. In the mouth it is possible to distinguish well differentiated tannins, as well as a soft and consistent fruity nuance.
