Description
In years of exceptional vintage, when the vines on the slopes of the Grand Cru Osterberg and the Wiebaum vineyard in Ribeauvillé offer particularly ripe and concentrated fruit, the Trimbach family decided to bottle not just a wine, but a statement of intent. Trimbach Alsace Pinot Gris Réserve Personnelle is born from a rigorous selection, when the grapes have almost reached the point of late harvest, with a perfect balance between richness and freshness. These plots, located on marl, limestone and some sandstone soils, benefit from the protection of the Vosges, which guarantees a sunny climate with cool nights: the ideal conditions for slow ripening and deep aromatic expression. Trimbach, with centuries of winemaking history, continues to focus on purity and patience, allowing the fruit and terroir to speak without artifice.
Winemaking
After a meticulous manual harvest, the grapes destined for the Trimbach Alsace Pinot Gris Réserve Personnelle are gently pressed in a pneumatic press. The must flows by gravity to the cellar, where it is naturally clarified before fermenting in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for two to three weeks. There is no barrel ageing: varietal expression and precision are favoured. Once bottled, the wine rests for several years in the cellar before being released on the market, allowing it to evolve to reveal its true potential.
Taste
Deep and golden in the glass, Trimbach Alsace Pinot Gris Réserve Personnelle displays a complex nose: ripe pear, quince, dried apricot, with hints of white pepper, fine honey and damp leaves. The palate is generous, unctuous, with restrained but vibrant acidity that structures without overpowering. It flows with notes of candied white fruit, mild spices and dried fruits. The finish is long, saline, with a subtle mineral echo. It is a weighty wine, yes, but never heavy; ideal for richly textured dishes or as a meditation wine. Trimbach Alsace Pinot Gris Réserve Personnelle is a Pinot Gris of depth and nobility, marrying ripeness with clarity, and fruit with soil.
