Description
Bernard Schoffit and his son, currently run the Domaine Schoffit winery, where thanks to the environmentally friendly agriculture and biodynamic techniques applied in the winery, they have managed to create impressive wines, such as the Schoffit Pinot Gris Rangen Grand Cru Clos Saint Théobald.
This creamy white wine is made from Pinot Gris grapes grown in Clos Saint-Théobald, in Thann. This vineyard is located in the south of Alsace in France.
Winemaking
To make Schoffit Pinot Gris Rangen Grand Cru Clos Saint Théobald, 100% Pinot Gris grapes are used, which are grown in a respectful way on steep coastal volcanic soil up to 80° of Grand Cru Rangen.
The grapes are pressed whole and the wine is cold-pressed. Alcoholic fermentation then takes place slowly, with indigenous yeasts. This process takes between three months and a year. Finally, the wine is aged for a year in barrels.
Taste
Schoffit Pinot Gris Rangen Grand Cru Clos Saint Théobald is a traditional and quite fresh white wine, with an intensity that is quickly noticeable on the nose. This creamy and fruity wine has a medium body and an alcohol content of 13%.
