Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
This NV Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Brut Cuvée de Réserve (disgorged in December 2017) is sourced from 67 different parcels of the Côte des Blancs (Mesnil, Oger, Avize and Cramant) and is composed of the vintages 2015 and 2014 (in equal parts) and 60% (!) of a réserve perpétuelle that dates back to 1998. The wine is clear and pretty intense on the nose, displaying ripe and intense fruit aromas. Rich and quite powerful on the palate, this is an elegant, finessed and well-structured cuvée with a good finish. Tasted in April 2018.

Description
In the heart of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the prestigious Côte des Blancs, the Péters family has made Chardonnay a statement of principle. Pierre Péters Cuvée de Réserve Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru was born from a bold idea: to make a non-vintage Blanc de Blancs Grand CruChampagne with the depth and complexity of a grand millésime. To achieve this, the house integrates at least 45% of wines from a perpetual reserve inspired by the solera method, with more than 25 vintages dating back to 1988.
The vineyards, classified entirely as Grand Cru in Champagne, are planted exclusively with 100%Chardonnay, on pure chalk soils that bring a marked minerality and a characteristic tension. The region's cool climate favours slow ripening, preserving the natural acidity and aromatic elegance that define this high-end French Champagne.
Winemaking
For Pierre Péters Cuvée de Réserve Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru, the grapes are harvested by hand and rigorously selected. After a delicate pressing, the must ferments mainly in stainless steel tanks to preserve varietal purity. Each parcel is vinified separately, allowing for a precise blending where the wine of the year is combined with the complex historical reserve.
The second fermentation is carried out in the bottle according to the traditional champenoise method. Ageing on the lees lasts approximately 24 months before disgorgement, far exceeding the minimum required for a non-vintage Champagne and providing finesse in the bubbles along with subtle notes of toast and dried fruits. The dosage, around 6-7 g/l, maintains an elegant and dry Brut profile, highlighting the freshness, chalky tension and verticality characteristic of the house.
Taste
On the nose Pierre Péters Cuvée de Réserve Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru is precise and mineral, with notes of fresh lemon, lime and white grapefruit against a background of chalk and wet stone. It is not an exuberant Champagne, but straightforward and refined. On the palate it displays vibrant acidity and very fine, almost creamy bubbles. There are hints of green apple, raw almond and a slight hint of brioche, always supported by a marked salinity. It is a mineral and elegant Champagne, long and vertical, with a finish of lemon zest that reaffirms its identity as a great Blanc de Blancs from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.
