Description

Panevino Boxi'e Croxiu, like its creator Gianfranco, is as idiosyncratic as it is a pure work of art and refined intellect. The name in Sardinian literally means "the voice of the skins", and the wine is a blend of the"pressato", i.e. the juice pressed from the first press of all the wines of a vintage. The name plays with words as"press" in many languages means both wine press and printing press. Therefore, Gianfranco imagines that the name could be that of "a newspaper that exposes the most immediate and raw news, but also protects the contents".

Elaboration

Panevino Boxi'e Croxiu is a wine that comes from the Nurri region in Sardinia. It is produced by Gianfranco Manca at the PaneVino winery. It is made from several local varieties, which gives it a unique complexity. Spontaneous fermentation takes place in open wooden vats. The wine is then racked into oak barrels where it ages for 12 months. No sulphites are added during the winemaking process, making it a more natural and less manipulated wine.

Taste

Panevino Boxi'e Croxiu is deeply carnal, chewy, with untamed raw power and tannic matter, but at the same time it is agile, fresh and balsamic. Its flavour notes are a mix of cherries, cinnamon, cloves, grilled dried figs with thyme and cardamom. On the palate, you can perceive a warm, tannic sip, with a slight tingle on the tongue, and nuances of liquorice, herbs and spices and goudron. It is, without a doubt, a wine that surprises and defies expectations.
