Description
Gut Oggau Joschuari wine is not just a drink, it is a story in itself. Produced in the vineyards of Gut Oggau, this wine carries the legacy of Mechtild and Bertholdi. Joschuari, son of this couple, brother of Emmeram and Timotheus, and husband of Wiltrude, is a man with an unmistakable style and a complex, charismatic character. As the main heir to Gut Oggau, his dry humour and sharp wit make him stand out, even from his father.
The production of this wine is meticulous and reflects the dedication and passion for viticulture. With yields ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 tons per hectare, the wine benefits from a soil composed of limestone and slate. The grape variety used is Blaunfrankisch, known for its distinctive flavour and ability to produce high quality wines.
Winemaking
The vinification of Gut Oggau Joschuari is an artisanal process. The grapes are harvested by hand and destemmed. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts is carried out in used 500 and 1,200 litre barrels and vats, allowing the must to remain in contact with the skins for approximately three weeks. Subsequently, the wine is aged in the same oak barrels for about 12 months, without batonnage. Finally, it is bottled unfiltered, unrefined and without the addition of sulphur.
