The 2020 Villages is a blend of grapes from all the soils from the different villages where they work—Piquera de San Esteban, Hontangas, Sotillo de la Ribera and Quintanilla de Onésimo. It's a regional Duero red that shows a lot of elegance in 2020, a year that had a generous crop and some rain before the harvest and delivered wines of contained alcohol and exceptional balance. It's 85% Tempranillo, 12% Garnacha and 3% white Albillo with 14% alcohol, and it's floral, aromatic and fine-boned, with a medium-bodied palate that reveals elegant tannins. It has terrific balance and subtleness. It fermented with 20% full clusters and indigenous yeasts from each plot and matured in a combination of 225-, 600- and 1,200-liter oak barrels and foudres for 19 months. There is no oak whatsoever in the wine, which comes through as complex and deep with an ethereal quality. 9,630 bottles and 180 magnums produced. It was bottled in September 2022. It's approachable now but with all that it takes to develop nicely in bottle.
