Description
The Cortezada wine of the Fedellos Do Couto winery is a red wine that is defined as a clean specimen, due to the high degree of transparency in its texture. However, it is still an expressive, round and juicy wine, which perfectly balances its mineral notes with the characteristic touch of acidity.
It is a product of the processing of Mencía grapes from the Cortezada vineyard, which is located at an altitude of 350 metres, which determines the freshness and acidity level of the fruit.
Winemaking
The Cortezada wine follows the philosophy of the Fedellos Do Couto winery, ensuring that the treatment of the fruit is as artisanal as possible and avoiding the addition of chemical elements that alter the taste and aroma of the fruit.
The type of grape used is 100% Mencía, which is why it is classified as a single variety. This grape comes from vines more than 15 years old, treated under an Atlantic climate with Mediterranean influence.
The grapes are harvested by hand and after extracting the must, it undergoes a fermentation phase with indigenous yeasts in French oak barrels.
After that, it is aged for 12 months in the same barrels, and then bottled without the addition of sulphites.
Taste
Cortezada is a red wine with very accentuated floral aromas, combined with mineral and balsamic tones. On the palate, you will notice the presence of round tannins, balanced acidity and a pleasant finish with a long persistence on the palate.
A mineral and elegant red wine
The grape from which Cortezada wine is made determines the mineral flavour of this wine, which is why it is classified as a mineral red wine. In addition, it denotes the elegance of its subtlety, being perfectly balanced with the level of acidity. It is an excellent alternative to accompany dishes that include veal or game meats.
