Description
Cinque Campi Rio degli Sgoccioli wine is made from Lambrusco Barghi, one of the many varieties of Lambrusco which is characterised by offering wines of an intense dark ruby colour. Although once widely planted in Emilia-Romagna, today only a couple of hectares of this variety remain. However, Vanni, as an advocate of the region's traditional grapes, is proud to present it in this rare cuvée, of which only around 1,500 bottles are produced each year.
Winemaking
The winemaking begins in a vineyard with siliceous clay soils, which produces yields of only about 2 kg per plant. The grapes are harvested by hand and macerated with the skins in stainless steel tanks for 2-3 days. The wine then spends about 6 months with its indigenous yeasts in cement tanks for fermentation. The second fer mentation is carried out in bottles with the addition of refrigerated must from the same plot and vintage. The wine is aged for 8 to 12 months on its lees, with periodic stirring by hand. No fining or filtering is carried out, and no sulphur is added at any stage of the process (total sulphates <10 ppm). Finally, it is disgorged without any dosage.
Taste
Cinque Campi Rio degli Sgoccioli stands out for its fresh and mineral personality. It is a red-toned sparkling wine that displays an aromatic and gustatory palette full of red fruits. Notes of raspberry, strawberry and other red fruits intertwine in a dance of flavours that delight the palate. The combination of its traditional production and the richness of the Lambrusco Barghi variety make it a unique oenological experience, worthy of being tasted by lovers of good wine.
