Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
I tasted the June 2025 bottling of the NV Manzanilla Nave Trinidad, a young and unfiltered, 'en rama,' Manzanilla that is growing in volume. It is a good entry-level wine to serious Manzanilla, gentle and fun but with complexity and depth, pungent and with a dry, chalky palate. This could be around four years of age, but the solera is probably 200 years old, and that gives complexity and depth because it has traces of super old wines in the blend, so the average age is quite meaningless. This represents good value for money. 12,000 bottles per year in different bottlings, one per season.

Description
Barbadillo Manzanilla Nave Trinidad en Rama is a unique proposal of Bodegas Barbadillo, which presents a Manzanilla en rama, unfiltered, with a biological aging of approximately 4 years under flor. Made from 100% Palomino Fina grapes, this new solera is located in the historic El Toro winery, specifically in the Nave Trinidad. Thirty-six butts have been carefully selected to house this wine, which represents a more accessible and friendly version of the medium-aged crianzas.
Winemaking
In its production, the winemaker Montserrat Molina has worked with organically aged wines from different butts, achieving a balanced combination that defines the character of this Manzanilla. Although it is a medium-aged wine, it stands out for its freshness and its capacity to be enjoyed without the complexity of other more mature Manzanillas from the winery.
Taste
Barbadillo Manzanilla Nave Trinidad en Rama has a smooth and accessible profile. On the palate, notes of fennel and esparto grass are perceived, with a fluid texture and an elegant flavour. Although it does not reach the complexity of other Manzanillas en Rama such as Pastora or Solear, its balance and friendly character make it an excellent entry into the world of medium-aged crianzas. This combination of freshness and smoothness makes Nave Trinidad an easy-drinking wine that is highly appreciated by consumers who are looking for quality and simplicity in the same product.
