Description
Algueira Carravel is an exceptional wine that represents the essence of the Ribeira Sacra. This wine, made from 100% Mencía grapes, comes from the best plots in Doade. Each plot is fermented separately and then blended after ageing. The Mencía is made in both steel and barrel, with or without stemming, depending on the plot of origin.
Winemaking
The production of Algueira Carravel involves cold pre-fermentative maceration and fermentation in stainless steel tanks with 20% stems, without yeast inoculation. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels. This meticulous process contributes to the quality and distinctive character of the wine.
The wine is aged for 24 months in French oak barrels. This period of maturation in barrels of different volumes adds complexity and depth to the wine, highlighting its unique characteristics.
Taste
Algueira Carravel stands out for its garnet red colour and medium depth. Balsamic and red fruit aromas, especially wild strawberry, are prominent. On the palate, the wine is round, with a perfect balance between alcohol, acidity and tannins. The minerality of the area is reflected in a wine that is long on the palate, offering a unique and memorable sensory experience.
