Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2022 La Danza del Viento Molino Quemado feels a little reductive and needs more time in the glass to open up. The reduction goes away after some time, and the wine shows serious, balanced and harmonious, perhaps less expressive than the others (reduction protects the wine and it feels less oxidative) and very harmonious, serious, balanced and elegant. It's slightly riper (14% alcohol) and comes from a vineyard that absorbs the warmer years quite well. The wine does not show heat, and it comes through as fresh, almost as good as the 2021 and probably better than most of the other 2022s. 700 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2024.

Description
At the top of the spot known as El Canto de las Brujas, 750 metres above sea level in San Martín de Valdeiglesias, a wine is born that seems to sprout directly from the granite. Here, among poor soils and a dry Mediterranean climate, the 4 Monos -Javier, Laura, David and David- grow oldGarnacha in goblet-trained vines, with organic practices and a philosophy of minimal intervention. Since 2010, their obsession has been clear: to bottle landscape, purity and tension. La Danza del Viento Molino Quemado is a wine that does not flatter, but seduces those who know how to read the mineral silences of the deepest Gredos.
Winemaking
4 Monos La Danza del Viento Molino Quemado comes from a single plot over 75 years old. This Garnacha is fermented with indigenous yeasts and 90% whole bunch, after a long maceration of 41 days. The wine is aged for 18 months in used 500-litre French oak barrels. No make-up, just the naked expression of the vineyard, with its northeast orientation, sandy soils on granite and its extreme climate. Only 900 bottles are produced each year, a commitment to the most radical authenticity.
Taste
The nose is pure delicacy: sour cherry, raspberry, orange peel and a faint scent of undergrowth. When the glass is swirled, notes of wet stone, faint smoke and dried herbs appear. On the palate, 4 Monos La Danza del Viento Molino Quemado is upright, sharp, with taut tannins and electric acidity that stretches the finish. A trace of salinity and citrus bitterness completes the profile, leaving a feeling of serious lightness, like an echoing whisper. It is an austere, structured and deeply expressive wine.
