The red 2022 GR-10 Tinto is a blend of 85% Garnacha and 15% Cariñena that fermented with full clusters and matured in barrels of different sizes and one 4,200-liter oak vat for seven months. It's fruit-driven, the profile of the year, with 13.5% alcohol, good freshness and some more austere tannins as the grapes come from the lower part of Cadalso and Cenicientos. It's expressive, aromatic and clean, with a medium-bodied palate that is juicy and tasty, with a supple finish. This is delicious and really impressive for the year. It represents very good value for money and a great introduction to the elegant style of the Garnachas from Gredos. They produced some 31,000 bottles. It was bottled in late August and early September 2023.

Free-run alcoholic fermented with whole stems in stainless steel tanks. Aged for 9 months in 300 and 500 litre barrels, foudres and concrete tanks.

Description

4 Monos GR-10 is a wine from the Denominación de Origen Vinos de Madrid, made mainly from Garnacha, Syrah and Cariñena grapes. The grapes are harvested from vineyards that are between 30 and 85 years old, located at altitudes of 700 to 800 metres. This environment provides ideal conditions for growing grapes with a unique character.

Winemaking

The grapes are harvested by hand, and the whole bunches are vinified, with stems, which contributes to the complexity of the wine. Fermentation is spontaneous, using indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for 9 months in used French oak barrels and foudres, followed by 2 months in concrete tanks. This ageing process adds subtlety and depth to the wine, while respecting its fruity and fresh character.

Taste

4 Monos GR-10 is characterised by its floral aromatic profile, with prominent notes of violets and lilacs. On the palate, it presents high acidity, which makes it versatile for pairing with a variety of dishes, including fish. Red fruit flavours, such as raspberries and sour cherries, combine harmoniously with soft tannins, creating a balanced and pleasant taste experience. This wine is an excellent example of how the altitude and granitic soil of the Sierra de Gredos influence the expression of the grapes, resulting in a fresh and focused wine, ideal to enjoy on a variety of occasions.
