Buy Wine from Fabien Perréard
Fabien Perréard founded Le Nadir winery in Saumur, in the Loire region. Before turning to wine, Fabien worked as a graphic designer and spent several years travelling the world, living in countries such as Paraguay, Brazil and Spain. In 2018, he decided to change course and moved to Saumur to learn about viticulture and oenology.
He worked in several vineyards under the tutelage of renowned winemakers such as Jean-Pierre Chevallier of Château de Villeneuve, Matthieu Vallée of Château Yvonne and Aymeric Hillaire of Domaine Mélaric. In 2020, Fabien acquired his first vineyard, a hectare of Chenin Blanc in Forges, and then another hectare in Brossay with Chenin Blanc, Grolleau Noir and Cabernet Franc.Vineyards
The Le Nadir winery has 2 hectares of vineyards located in two distinct areas within the Saumur region. The vineyard in Forges is located on the top of a small hill with a soil composed of gravel and clay from the Pliocene epoch. This terroir is warm, but remains cool due to the exposure to the westerly oceanic winds, which helps to preserve the elegance and acidity in the Chenin Blanc grapes. At Brossay, the vineyard is situated on a large plateau of flint and clay from the Jurassic period. This terroir is windy and dry, which contributes to the depth and saline flavour characteristic of the Chenin Blanc grapes grown there. Both vineyards are farmed organically, with a focus on minimal intervention and respect for the environment.
Philosophy
Fabien Perréard 's philosophy at Le Nadir is based on artisanal and natural winemaking. Fabien works his vineyards almost entirely by hand, with occasional help from friends during tilling and harvesting. He uses an old wooden vertical press to make his wines, which ferment spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and without any additions. The wines are matured in barrels, fibreglass tanks and stainless steel tanks, and bottled without filtering or adding sulphites. Fabien focuses on producing wines with low alcohol content, typically around 11%, seeking to highlight the freshness and natural acidity of the grapes. This philosophy reflects his passion for authentic wines and his commitment to terroir care and sustainable practices.
Fabien Perréard 's Le Nadir winery in Saumur, Loire, is a young but promising project in the world of natural wine. With a solid background in working with some of the region's best winemakers and a philosophy focused on minimal intervention and respect for the environment, Fabien is creating unique wines that stand out for their freshness, acidity and authenticity. As he continues to develop his winery and his techniques, Le Nadir is expected to become an important reference in the Loire region and in the natural wine movement.
