Description
Pedro Parra Newk is a pure and authentic expression of Chilean terroir. Produced in the heart of Guarilihue Alto, this wine comes from the smallest vineyard cultivated by Pedro Parra. It is composed entirely of the Cinsault variety, a grape that has adapted beautifully to the conditions of the Chilean terroir. This particular wine pays homage to the wild and passionate saxophonist Sonny "Newk" Rollins.
Winemaking
In the cellar, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts takes place in concrete tanks with 100% whole bunches. This process brings out the natural characteristics of the grapes and adds complexity to the wine. Subsequently, the wine is aged in large 1,500 litre unroasted foudres, which allows for a slow and balanced maturation, preserving the fruity and earthy qualities of the Cinsault.
Taste
The aroma of Pedro Parra Newk reveals a reductive vinification, but once it dissipates, subtle red fruits emerge accompanied by whole cluster aromatics. On the palate, this wine stands out for its tension and excellent mouthfeel. Dark red fruits dominate the flavour profile, culminating in a long, grandiose finish. It is a wine that perfectly combines fruit intensity with a balanced tannic structure, offering a unique tasting experience.
