The 2022 La Vizcaína La Poulosa is the wine that suffered more from the effects of the warm 2022, as it comes from the warmest place. It has a dark color and a very ripe nose, verging on over-ripeness, with notes of prunes, dates and an earthy touch. It has a rustic palate with abundant tannins and a dusty finish. 12,000 bottles produced.

Description
La Poulosa is a crianza red wine made from Mencía and produced by the La Vizcaína de Vinos winery under the D.O. Bierzo appellation, in the northwest of the province of Castilla y León in Spain.
La Poulosa is a 2 hectare southeast facing vineyard with rich soil and warm temperatures. This is one of the plots Raúl Pérez is most fond of.
These vineyards date back to 1940 and have been planted on pebbly clay soils at an altitude of 550 metres facing east in a temperate environment, providing the best of themselves.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimum ripeness. On arrival at the winery, fermentation is carried out in open vats, with 80% of the stems left to macerate for 60 days. The ageing process takes place in used French oak barrels for more than 12 months. Finally, it is bottled without fining or filtration, which has a lot to do with the purity of its sensations.
Taste
La Poulosa is a red wine that shows a great variety of fruity expressions. On the palate it shows balance between tannins and acidity. It is a deep wine with a pleasant and intense passage with a more velvety sensation, exquisite!

La Poulosa is a wonderful red wine that comes from the combination of the use of local varieties and older vineyards, indispensable, according to the oenologist Raúl Pérez, for an ideal creation of wines of local entity.
In the gastronomic field it combines perfectly with dishes such as rabbit with fine herbs, kid ribs in batter and wild mushrooms.
