The 2020 Macharnudo Vino de Pasto was super fresh and with marked salinity and reminded me more of the 2016. It has pungent flavors and a marked citrus twist, vibrant and elegant; it makes you salivate. Since 2019, they have tried to reduce the effect of the flor and make more of a white wine. This has 14.2% alcohol. It should develop beautifully in bottle.

Description
The La Riva-Macharnudo wine is a white wine classified as a grassy wine, product of the processing of palomino fino grapes from the legendary El Notario vineyard, located to the north of the Macharnudo estate, a place that honours its name.
It is a wine that experts define as indomitable and sapid, denoting the elegance and texture that characterises a good white wine. It also has a great capacity for ageing, being able to reach its maturity level in the bottle.
Winemaking
The La Riva-Macharnudo wine is a wine that begins to be produced from the harvesting process, where the grapes are harvested by hand to ensure that the level of ripeness is as indicated, and then proceed to submit it to a 6-hour sun exposure on a day of rising.
After that, the grapes are gently pressed to extract the must and fermented in 600-litre barrels at room temperature, using flor yeast. The ageing is biological, and is carried out over a period of 24 months under a veil of flor.
Taste
The La Riva-Macharnudo wine has a clean aroma, with citrus fruit tones and floral nuances. In the mouth it is fresh and powerful, with a pronounced touch of saline and mineral notes, leaving a long lingering aftertaste on the palate.
