Description
There are wines that tell stories, and then there is La Garnacha Perdida del Pirineo. This is not just a wine, it is a bottled piece of landscape, a testimony to the magic that happens when a forgotten variety finds its perfect home. It is made by Vintae, a project that goes beyond simple winemaking: it is a declaration of love for Garnacha, a grape that for years was undervalued, but is now reborn in full force.
La Garnacha Perdida del Pirineo is born in an organic vineyard located at an altitude of 800 metres, in the extreme north of Zaragoza. Imagine a landscape surrounded by Mediterranean forest, with an old medieval tower guarding the vines as if it were protecting a treasure. The vines grow in clay-limestone soils, which gives them that perfect balance between minerality and freshness. The production is low, just 2-3 thousand kg/ha, but each bunch counts, concentrating the best of the terroir in each berry.
Winemaking
Harvesting is done by hand, with patience and meticulous selection. Then, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, preserving all the fruit. The magic comes with the ageing of 12 months in French oak barrels, half new, half used. This process gives La Garnacha Perdida del Pirineo an elegant structure, without robbing it of freshness and character.
Taste
La Garnacha Perdida del Pirineo jumps out at you with its cherry red colour, deep and vibrant, like a ruby jewel. As you bring the glass closer, the aroma unfolds in layers: first violets and roses, then an explosion of black fruits (blackberries, raspberries, blueberries), and finally a spicy touch of pepper and balsamic herbs (rosemary, bay leaf, dill). The Lost Garnacha of the Pyrenees invites you to lose yourself in it, to close your eyes and feel that you are in that high altitude vineyard, with the fresh wind of the Pyrenees brushing against your skin.
On the palate, it is round and balanced, with a silky texture that envelops the palate. Its tannins are ripe and well-integrated, providing structure without harshness. The finish is long and persistent, leaving a fruity and spicy aftertaste that invites you to keep drinking.
