Description
La Bulle Libre L’Odyssée Pétillante Chapitre 2 stems from a very clear idea: to make Champagne without pretence, allowing the vineyard and the vintage to speak for themselves in all their raw honesty and beauty. Romain Hénin embodies family heritage, but also a firm determination not to simply repeat the past. This cuvée epitomises precisely that free-spirited approach: a personal interpretation of the most authentic Champagne, crafted with respect for the land and a philosophy of minimal intervention. The blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 40% Meunier and 10% Chardonnay perfectly captures the character of the Vallée de la Marne: wines with substance, vigour and a mineral depth that stems from its chalky soils and a climate that demands courage and precision from the winegrower.
Production
In the cellar, La Bulle Libre L’Odysée Pétillante Chapitre 2 follows this same ethos of honesty. The grapes come exclusively from Domaine Hénin and are handled with artisanal care, seeking to preserve the identity of the fruit and the terroir. Vinification takes place without added sulphites or unnecessary artificial interventions, with minimal intervention to ensure the wine retains all its natural energy. It is bottled as Brut Nature, without dosage – a decision that profoundly shapes the wine’s style, for here there is no window dressing nor any concessions to ease. The bubbles serve to enhance the tension, purity and the most unadorned expression of the wine as a whole.
Taste
Inthe glass, Bullas Libre L’Odysée Pétillante Chapitre 2 is refined and precise, with a delicate yet lively effervescence. The nose is restrained and elegant, not explosive, with notes of crisp apple, pear, lemon zest and a subtle, barely perceptible hint of brioche in the background. On the palate, it opens with breadth and a certain fullness, but its chalky, dry and briny backbone soon emerges, sharpening the wine and propelling it towards a long, vibrant finish. There is fruit, but it always takes a back seat to the mineral tension, chalk, citrus and a sense of impressive purity. A gastronomic Champagne, serious and deeply authentic.
