I came across a bottle of the 2019 Les Singuliers Chardonnay-Savagnin Vin de Voile, which was produced with a majority of Chardonnay and only 5% Savagnin. It matured for almost two years, one of which it was under a veil of flor yeasts. Chardonnay with flor tends to deliver very powerful wines, and this is not shy at 13.8% alcohol. The warmth of the year is noticeable with moderate acidity, while it kept the freshness with a pH of 3.11. It has a nuanced nose with subtle spice and curry, notes of pollen and wax, yellow fruit and a smoky twist. The palate is round and polished, with integrated acidity, pungent, complex and long. It was bottled in July 2021.
