Description
Chevreux-Bournazel La Parcelle Millésime champagne is made exclusively from Meunier grapes from old vines of the La Parcelle estate. Production is extremely limited, with only 290 bottles of this particular vintage wine. This wine represents a micro-production of extremely mineral, firm and very expressive champagnes from the best terroirs of the Vallée de la Marne. Stéphanie and Julien, the couple behind this wine, bring more than 20 years of experience in Champagne vineyards, acquired while providing expert consultancy in organic and biodynamic viticulture.
Winemaking
The ageing of this wine is remarkable, as it spends almost 5 years ageing in bottle on lees. This process contributes significantly to the complexity and structure of the wine. La Parcelle Millésime is a non-dosage wine (Brut Nature), which means that no additional sugar is added after the second fermentation in bottle. This results in a drier and purer profile.
Taste
In terms of taste, Chevreux-Bournazel La Parcelle Millésime is characterised by a remarkable fruit concentration, with a medium-high intensity on the nose. Aromas include apple, green apple, peach, pear, a light touch of raspberry, lemon zest, yeast, toast and minerality. The structure of the wine is lovely, without too much firmness or tension, but with a great concentration of flavours and a very marked mineral expression.
This wine represents an excellent example of how the Meunier variety, often underestimated in Champagne, can create a sparkling wine of great complexity and character when grown and made with care and attention. Chevreux-Bournazel La Parcelle Millésime is, without a doubt, a wine that communicates its terroir in an exciting and dramatic way, all done by hand and with heart.
