Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The Arbois red 2020 Trousseau de Messagelin is clearly the finest vintage I have tasted from this wine, despite playing with the disadvantage of being from a warm and ripe year, much more challenging than 2016, the last one I had tasted, when they were already getting more defined and less wild. This has notes of wild strawberries, more fruit from a more solar year, with a vegetal side, delicate and definitely coming as fresh, overcoming the natural conditions of the vintage. Yes, there is still a faint animal touch and a small hint of funkiness that adds complexity (and fun) to the wine. Not for the faint of heart.

Description
A story of origin and audacity is born in the unique cellar of Étienne Thiébaud, who in 2007 decided to embark on his personal project in Cramans, Jura. On his estate of just 4.5 hectares, cultivated with organic passion and respect for the terroir, the seed of Trousseau de Messagelin emerged as a symbol of purity and voice of the soil. Inspired by vines ranging in age from 15 to 115 years, some planted in soils rich in iron oxide and red marl, Étienne made a bold choice: to make the wine without fining, filtering or adding sulphites, leaving the most genuine expression of the vineyard and its environment to a minimum. This philosophy is his calling card: a natural cuvée where the earth speaks with a subtle voice.
Winemaking
Cavarodes Arbois Trousseau de Messagelin is harvested with care, and after careful destemming, the grapes enter a semi-carbonic maceration that extracts primary flavours and vibrancy. The wine then matures for 12 months in old wooden foudres, where it settles and integrates, without the aid of fining or filtering, and without added sulphites, thus retaining its freshness and honesty. This approach reveals a frank, authentic texture, which expresses without artifice the combination of the continental climate of the Jura, the winds of the Loue and the deep minerality of its wine-growing soil.
Taste
On the nose, Cavarodes Arbois Trousseau de Messagelin displays a palette of red fruits - cherry, strawberry and blackberry - interwoven with earthy nuances, minerals, smoke and occasionally a hint of black olive. The palate is delicate and supple, with a nervous acidity that lends structure without losing elegance. The tannins are soft, almost ethereal, filling the palate with lightness and precision, while the finish is tinged with forest aromas, with hints of damp earth and a lingering spicy pulse.
This TrousseaunaturalJura does not seek to impose itself, but to whisper the history of the place. It is a wine that charms by its balance between fresh fruit and austere minerality, by its silky texture that leaves an earthy echo, and by the impression of authentic drinking, without embellishment or intervention. Those who appreciate wines with an organic character - those that distinguish the terroir without concessions - will find it a loyal companion at the table, especially with white meats, mushrooms, mild cured meats or creamy cheeses that suggest calm and complicity.
