Description
Bardos Suprema is the culmination of a passionate project initiated by Bodegas Bardos, part of the Vintae company, in the lofty Ribera del Duero since 2004. This region is distinguished by its high altitude vineyards, located in the challenging terrain of Páramo de Corcos and Moradillo de Roa, where vines grow at more than 940 metres above sea level. The vines, many more than 80 years old, are planted on sandy loam soils with underground layers of clay, surrounded by an extreme continental climate that gives character and robustness to the fruit.
Winemaking
Bardos Suprema is made exclusively with Tinta del País (Tempranillo), this wine is forged through fermentation in 9,000 kg vats, followed by malolactic fermentation in French and Eastern European oak barrels, where weekly 'batonage' enhances its structure and complexity. It is aged for more than 30 months in new oak barrels , resting in underground cellars at a constant temperature, which gives it a unique and memorable character.
Taste
Bardos Suprema is a wine that dazzles with its power and elegance. On the nose, it displays a range of intense aromas, dominated by black fruit compote, hints of coffee, cocoa and smoky notes that reflect its lengthy time in oak. On the palate, the wine is deep and enveloping, with fine, perfectly polished tannins that give it a velvety texture. The aftertaste is long, full of nuances, with the characteristic fruity freshness that characterises it and an acidity that balances its density.
Each glass is a tribute to the hard work of the winegrowers and the majesty of the high altitude vineyards that defy the most extreme conditions. It is a wine that, thanks to its complexity and character, promises unparalleled moments of enjoyment when paired with robust dishes or a selection of aged cheeses.
