Description
There are wines that tell a story, and then there is Artuke Matador Madoz, which encloses a whole life in each glass. This is the result of the love for the land of the De Miguel family, winegrowers at heart who have worked in silence for generations in the Rioja Alavesa. Behind this wine is Arturo de Miguel, who has managed to capture the essence of his vineyards and the memory of a great friend.
Artuke Matador Madoz is a 100% Tempranillo from two vineyards with their own character. The first is in Samaniego, in a poor soil of limestone and bedrock, which forces the vines to work hard, giving concentrated grapes full of personality. The second vineyard, in Villalba de Rioja, is at the foot of the Obarenes Mountains and provides a freshness that balances the strength of the first.
Winemaking
To make Artuke Matador Madoz, Arturo opts for simplicity: manual harvesting, fermentation with indigenous yeasts and ageing in French oak barrels. There is no rush, no artifice. Just patience and respect for time.
Taste
From the first sip, Artuke Matador Madoz envelops you. Its deep cherry red colour already hints at the intensity to come. On the nose, it is a sensory journey: ripe red fruits, a touch of liquorice and that spicy whisper reminiscent of evenings by the fireplace. On the palate, it feels fleshy, with a texture that caresses the palate and a vibrant acidity that keeps it alive until the last moment. It is a wine that leaves a mark, like the great stories that deserve to be told.
And speaking of stories, its label is also a nod to art: a photograph by the renowned Chema Madoz, because a wine like this also deserves to be contemplated.
